MCKINNEY BHM ART SHOW

McKinney Performing Arts Center | February 5th, 2022 | 6 pm
The McKinney Chamber Foundation is excited to announce their first Black History Month Art Exhibit. The event will be held at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, February 5th-6th at 7pm. BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Artists from the Collin County area and beyond are invited to submit their work for consideration to be included in the event’s art exhibition.
Artwork will reflect the artist’s interpretation of the concept of Identity, and should demonstrate the artist’s consideration of “Legends to Legacies” within the Black culture. Artists are encouraged to submit between 1-3 works. Artwork must be solely the original concept, design, and execution of the artist. A jury of art professionals will review the entries, Cash prizes will be given to top awarded works, and all juried works will be on display at the event and on an online platform.

Harlem Renaissance Remembered!
The Sanctuary | February 18th, 2022 | 7-10 pm
The Harlem Renaissance was an intellectual and cultural revival of African American music, dance, art, fashion, literature, theater and politics centered in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, spanning the 1920s and 1930s. The movement drew nearly 175,000 African Americans, giving the neighborhood the largest concentration of black people in the world. Harlem became a destination for African Americans of all backgrounds.
Celebrate Black history and culture like it’s the 1920’s with a live band, 97.9 The Beat’s DJ Phil, dancers, casino tables, and more. This event is for 21 years old and older, includes a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres, and wall-to-wall entertainment. Dress up in your Harlem Renaissance era best, hit the red carpet, stop into the 360-degree camera booth and enjoy the best party of the year in McKinney. Tickets start at $35.

Adopt-A-Church
New Outreach Church | February 27th, 2022 | 11am
The purpose of the gathering is to bring individuals to a church located on the East Side of McKinney to worship and pray with families that have been in the community for generations. Along with worshiping and prayer we will gather for food and conversation to learn more about the congregation and their family and church history. Catering will be provided by CJ's Kitchen.
